Rothmans Biographies.

I'm going to try and add the biographies of everyone who have flown with the team (a long job I fear!)

Mike Cairns.

Born in 1936, he joined the RAF as an Engineering Officer in 1959, he later went on to fly Victors, Canberras, and Phantoms. He also qualified as a flying instructor.  On leaving the RAF he formed his own flying school, also giving many solo aerobatic displays in the UK. Mike joined the Rothmans in 1978 and flew in the 1,3,4,5 slots. Finishing as leader of the 1980 touring team.

Peter Jones.

Born in 1941 he has an electrical engineering background. He started flying with the Birmingham university Air Squadron. Joining the RAF in 1963, training on Jet Provosts, and Meteors. He completed tours in the UK and Germany on Canberras, Hunters, and Buccaneers. He left the RAF in 1979 to join the Rothmans.

Andy Legge.

Born in 1944 he served a technical apprenticeship at RAF Halton , starting his flying career at RAF Cranwell. He trained on Chipmunks and Jet Provosts, and later specialised in Gnats and Canberras. After leaving the RAF he instructed aerobatics, flew for Britten Norman and then a Scottish air taxi servicing the oil industry.

Bob Ruskell.

Born in 1948. He joined the RAF in 1967, training on Jet Provosts and Gnats. He moved onto Hunters, Lightnings, and Jaguars.  He flew the 4 and solo slot in the 1980 touring team.
