Clive Rowley joined the RAF in 1970, after training he flew the Lightning with 19 Sqn at RAF Gutersloh, Germany. Later he became a Qualified Flying Instructor, flying the Bulldog and the Hawk on 2 Tactical Weapons Unit. He then returned to the Lightning at RAF Binbrook flying with 5, 11, and as Officer Commanding the Lightning Training Flight. In 1987 he was posted to RAF Coningsby flying the Tornado F3 as a flight commander with 5 Squadron. He also flew the F3 with F3 Operations Evaluations Unit. He then joined 56(R) Squadron as an instructor, ending up with over 3,000 hours on the F3. He joined the BBMF in 1996, becoming the BBMFs Chipmunk Qualified Flying Instructor. By 2003 he had a total of over 6,900 flying hours including over 300 hours on the Hurricane and Spitfire.

Scott joined the RAF in 1988. After completing Air Loadmaster training he was posted to RAF Lyneham on Hercules followed by a tour on 24 Squadron, returning to LM school in 1992 to convert to the rotary wing specialisation. Following crewman training at Shawbury a move to 72 Squadron at Aldergrove on Wessex HC Mk2 until 1995, and then on to the Chinook of 18 Squadron based in Germany, followed by VC10s of 10 Squadron at Brize Norton. He became an instructor on 3FTS in 2001, at that time having 4300 flying hours. He joined the BBMF as a Air Loadmaster on the Dakota in 2002.
